When selecting a paper shredder be sure to ask these 5 questions to ensure you have the best machine for your requirements.
- How much shredding will be done weekly?
Less then a ream a week, Over 2000 pages, more then as tone.
(This will correctly identify what type of machine and the work load the machine needs to handle e.g. small office, department, SOHO or home.)
- What kind of documents will I be shredding? How confidential are the documents?
Bank statements, Daily work spread sheets, junk mail, price lists ect.
( This will determine what security level you will need. DIN Level 1-6, the DIN level is straight cut or cross cut or micro cut)
- How many people will use the paper shredder?
One user, less then 5 users, 5 and more.
(Helps narrow the selection of machines so you have the correct size motor for the number of users)
- Where will the machine be located?
Under your desk, central position in the office, in a shredding department.
(With this information you are determining how big the machine should be. The bin size and the weight and dimensions.)
- How long do you have to shred?
Its not my job so less then 5 min, With increased work loads I spend more then 30 min, Its my job so lots of time.
(This will determine if you need a machine with a continues duty cycle and no cool down period or if a cool down period is OK. It will also open up the option of an auto feed machines as it saves you time.)
